Second City: Belushi and Spark Computers and Comedy...Together?
Dave Spark joins the ranks of other comedy greats when he is hired as a corporate comedy writer by Second City Communications. Clients such as Ameritech, Arthur Andersen, Square D, Xerox and Motorola are annoyed and delighted with Dave's odd brand of humor. What do you do when Dr. Hysterical and Mr. Hard Drive are the same person? You get him to write humor columns for computer magazines like PC Computing, Axcess, FamilyPC, Yahoo! Internet Life, PC World and Internet Underground (no longer in print). As if that's not enough, Dave begins to write and perform funny sketches for Live Marketing(Summer, 1995 - Winter, 1998), a company that stages performances at computer trade shows.
It's Official - "Dave's A Computer Geek" Dave Spark Shares His Obsession of Baywatch with the People of Chicago
After years of denial, Dave faces the truth and accepts the fact that he is a computer geek. Tatham Euro RSCG, an advertising agency helping people with such disabilies, takes Dave under its wing and hires him as a systems supervisor(Summer, 1993 - Winter, 1995). They place him in charge of providing PC support for a 70 person media department. His work involves programming, purchasing, instructing and troubleshooting software and hardware on a Novell LAN. Undergoing years of costly therapy, Dave's doctor suggests a more constructive route to deal with his obsession of Baywatch. Realizing the worldwide impact of Baywatch, WLUP-FM showcases Dave Spark's weekly Baywatch Report(formerly heard on WLUW-FM) on The Kevin Matthews Show(Fall, 1994). Desiring more, audiences rush to Zanies, The Improv and The Funny Firm to get their Dave fix.
